It’s with a grateful heart that I welcome you to thinkcosmopolitan.com. Kim and I run a few businesses here in Los Angeles, California, but Think Cosmopolitan holds a special place in my heart. This entire business idea was born completely out of a dream I didn’t know it could ever come to life. It’s truly only because a fiercely faithful, brave and bold wife pushed me to pursue my dream that it ever came to be.
In 2013, we bought our “Little Shop in Malaga Cove” and opened the first L'Armoire Des Reves. In that store, I developed and sharpened my design style and skills, grew as a business owner, and gained much needed confidence in L'Armoire Des Reves and myself.
After Kim and I had our first kid, we had to leave USA due to family issue, after two years we made the tough decision to close the Store, we develop our online presence and focus on growing and raising our family. During this time, we also really honed in on our French construction business, for few years. This is where I told the construction side of things to Kim, and we loved the idea that we were “making beautiful three homes at a time.” This work was meaningful to us, and we worked together for years as a team; Kim as a student and I in construction and design. Soon I began feeling a pull toward reopening L'Armoire Des Reves. So in January of 2018, we pulled the trigger, and decided that the Little Shop will be reopening for business under the name Think Cosmopolitan in a larger and more exciting location.
To think that my business plans scribbled on scratch paper have turned into this online store is unbelievable to say the least. Not to mention the fact that we’ve recently decided to take our Little Shop to other countries in the world, we are more than excited to offer franchise opportunity to whom want to be part of our family business. What an amazing and interesting future this will be!
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to visit Think Cosmopolitan. We love hosting you, and hope you might even come on out to our future location for a visit soon! Kim Dubus is Store designer of Think Cosmopolitan, with her husband Romain. She appreciates the modern ways of living, sophisticated and hard-working with home at the center. Kim was born in Osaka Japan and raised there. She graduated from Ritsumeikan University Japan with a degree in Philosophy and was inspired to join the world of design. Kim decided to help Romain opening their own shop in 2013, bringing her South-Korean side's ideas and eye for design in Los Angeles, California. She soon discovered this emerging passion complemented Romain’s experience, and together they began their journey in retail as well as remodeling and flipping homes. Kim self identifies as a influencer, and takes pride in her work. But she also loves to have a blast in Las Vegas, she call it "The best town in the world".
Kim’s design preference is sophisticated, fresh and timeless. She loves to find niches pieces that are unique and reflecting her philosophy of life. Her specialty is finding new things and seeing the potential in every project-no matter how hopeless it may seem in the beginning. By preserving and highlighting the character of each pieces, Kim keeps things original and one of a kind.
In between Think Cosmopolitan, their many renovation projects, and her love for fashion, Kim enjoys life spending time cooking family recipes in her kitchen. Gardening soothes her soul and being with her son dominates all other favorites.
