SR. USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER (UX) DESIGNER

The primary role of the Sr. UX Designer is to assist Product Managers (PMs) in researching, designing, and testing new product interfaces, enhancements, and rewrites for internal enterprise applications. The Sr. UX Designer will be expected to work directly with Product Managers to review requirements and use cases, perform user shadowing, and provide product user interface designs that are consistent with the enterprise Product Design System and usability best practices. This role will also be expected to create analytical deliverables such as site maps, task flows, and application models. The Sr. UX Designer must also be able to communicate effectively with software developers by having a good understanding of web-based front-end development. Candidate must be comfortable working with highly technical colleagues and must be self-motivated and accountable.
Responsibilities
- Create product UI drawings/wireframes, logic flows, site maps, and application models
- Participate in user groups and user shadowing to gather feedback and recommendations
- Work with Business Analysts, End Users, Software Developers and Product Managers to understand and visually articulate new software product design requirements
- Update existing designs to accommodate new or changed user requirements
- Update and maintain online Product Design System and architecture documentation
- Maintain relationships and set expectations with product owners and stakeholders
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of UX design experience
- 3+ years of experience working as UX Designer in a Senior / Lead /Principle role
- Experience with UX design tools such as Omnigraffle, Illustrator, or Visio
- Experience with Mac, PC, and Mobile operating systems
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of Web, Visual, and User-Centered Design Principles
- Exceptionally keen eye and attention to detail and consistency
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; academic / technical writing proficiency
- Ability to listen to and incorporate feedback; willingness to learn and take direction
- Practical understanding of Bootstrap, HTML, and CSS/LESS
- Practical understanding of Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA)
- Experience with web, mobile, and desktop UI design
- Experience with Product Design Systems
- Experience with manufacturing, automation or enterprise software
- Background in human-centric fields such as psychology, sociology, or industrial design
- A passion for spaceflight, science, engineering, or technology
- Exceptional fortitude, creativity, accountability, and flexibility
Additional Requirements
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment that may require long hours and capable of delivering high-quality with short timelines
ITAR Requirements
